The 2009 movie "The Proposal" starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds was filmed in Rockport and was called Sitka Alaska. You can see all the beautiful outdoor scenes from the movie (less the mountains that were added to the background n the movie) when you visit Bearskin Neck.
Rockport is a small seaside community located on the northernmost tip of Cape Ann along with the city of Gloucester.
When you visit Rockport you will want to stay forever just to soak in the unspoiled scenery and charm. Here you will find some of the most beautiful beaches and scenery in the country.
Visit Halibut Point State Park and in one area you will witness the most beautiful birds and wildlife as well as the huge quarry and the Atlantic ocean crashing against the rocky shore below. From Long Beach to Folly Cove you will find spectacular Ocean views including twin light on Thatcher Island.
Rockport has a number of beaches offering variety which include Long Beach, Cape Hedge Beach, Pebble Beach, and Front and Back Beach. The downtown and Bearskin Neck is filled with specialty shops, art galleries, and some of the best restaurants in the state.
Motif #1 is located in Rockport and there is a house in Rockport made entirely of newspaper including all the furnishings and it is open for visiting, located at 52 Pidgeon Hill Street. The Paper House is a bit difficult to find, but definitely fascinating and worth the search.
